AGENCY BASED FOSTER CARE

Agency Based Foster Care was developed to provide a "home like" placement option for abused and neglected children that need out of home care, but can't be maintained in a "traditional" foster home.  Agency Based Foster Care provides for this need by offering foster homes with specially trained Teaching Parents.   The Teaching Parents are an integral part of the treatment team.  They receive specialized training, and 24 hour support from the Agency's professional staff.

This program utilizes a treatment team approach to address the special needs of these children.  The treatment team includes, but is not limited to; the case worker from Health and Human Services, teaching parents, biological parents, case coordinator, therapist, school staff, and any other interested parties.  The treatment team develops and directs the implementation of the treatment plan for the child.

TREATMENT FOSTER CARE

Treatment Foster Care service is available to clients age 20 years or younger who have participated in a HEALTH CHECK (EPSTD) screen, and this screening has indicated this type of treatment is clinically necessary.  Treatment Foster Care occurs in a foter home where specially trained foster parents are available at all times to provide consistent behavior management programs, therapeutic interventions, and render services under the direct supervision of a supervising practitioner.  Treatment foster care services must be community-based, family focused, culturally competent and developmentally appropriate.

Ideally the stay in Treatment Foster Care is short-term, 6 months or less.   It is hoped that the client's behaviors can be stabilized within this time frame, thus allowing the client to be moved to a less structured environment such as an agegency based foster home.
